Child Injuries

Let our Attorneys Help Protect Your Most Valuable Asset
Most parents are extremely busy and constantly thinking about the safety of their children. Watching the news shows the truth of how many accidents occur to children daily. Whether it be a missing child, child drowning or a child in an accident on the ay to school. Parents cannot hold back the fear of what could happen and when. Our attorneys at Lampariello Law have families and children and we all have the same fears.
Unfortunately, more and more children die every year from car accident injuries. Despite our best efforts as parents, the design of cars and restraints have a different effect on young children and its vitally important to use a child safety seat when recommended.
Usually in an auto accident, your child’s injuries are caused by the negligent acts of another and our attorneys at Lampariello Law will be ready to fight for the compensation you deserve.
Injuries in a child auto accident case
- Head injuries, such as concussions, contusions, lacerations, and skull fractures
- Thoracic injuries, such as rib fractures and lung injuries
- Abdominal injuries, such as upper and lower bowel perforations
- Upper body fractures of the humerus, radius, and ulna
- Lower extremity fractures of the pelvis, leg and foot
With head injuries, in particular, it can take years before neurological deficits manifest. Some frontal lobe functions — like higher level reasoning and social/interpersonal skills — do not develop until a child reaches adolescence. Early childhood brain damage may not be apparent until children reach high school. Likewise, brain injuries to the reading and writing centers in a baby or toddler’s brain will not be evident until the child reaches school age.
In Florida, when there is an accident you have a certain amount of time to file your personal injury lawsuit. This is called a “statute of limitations” and is four (4) years however in cases where the injuries were not fully realized until much later, the clock starts ticking when your child receives a diagnosis.
